Thanks for the recommendations!
We do love Adoptive Families Magazine and have been using its resources since before we even started the process.
We also have taken two classes through Adopt Education. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience; we were disappointed by both content and format. Perhaps we picked the wrong ones.
We have gotten a lot out of Baby Care and Infant CPR classes offered through our local hospital system and various adoption-specific classes offered by our agency. We also have been reading a lot. Our favorites so far include:
- Secrets to Your Successful Domestic Adoption by Jennifer Pedley (a birth mother)
- The Mystery of Risk by Ira Chasnoff
- Raising Adopted Children and The Open Adoption Experience - two books by Lois Melina
