Hello!
When i'm not gardening, or baking or playing with our cats, Tim and i enjoy taking walks in the local nature reserve and are constantly in awe of the eagles that call that Reserve home. We enjoy Kayaking on the local rivers and always try to sign up for the moonlight or sunset kayak tours at the local Regional Parks - it's a great way to learn about and see some of the amazing creatures in their environment.
We both enjoy going to the local museums in Washington DC, i am fascinated by history and architecture and we both enjoy traveling. One really fun thing that I do whenever i'm in a new city, either with Tim or on my own, is to go on the local ghost tour! It's a fun way to learn about the romances and drama of a city, with a story woven by the tour leader about the colourful characters of days-gone-by. Hearing the stories of the city via the former residents really brings the history of a region out in a unique way. So far i've heard the tales of Washington DC, Occoquan VA, San Francisco, Chicago,St. Petersburg, New Orleans, Boston, and London, UK.
I also enjoy painting (acrylics on canvas) which started as a way to decorate our house which has lots of white walls but i wanted some colour in the house! I also like to scrapbook and keep spark books of gardening ideas and holiday party and holiday decorations as inspiration!
Hope that gives some more insight into things that i like to do! On Pinterest i've been putting some ideas for cute nursery decorating, fabulous fashions, since i do love cats there's a board about cat stuff, and gardening inspiration and some simply clever ideas, tips and hints from magazines!

A few of my favorite things:
Way of getting around town: My green & white scooter!
Color: Ordinarily i’d say blue; but i seem to have a lot of kelly green things now!
Foods: Local BBQ restaurant’s loaded baked potato with chicken; Tortilla de papas- the way my Mom makes it! Apples with peanut butter; marzipan.
Saying: “Be the change you want to see in the world” – Gandhi
Things that make me smile: Dogs in cars (who doesn’t smile when they see their ears flapping in the breeze of the open window and the open road!); the thought of Tim & cats enjoying a good cat-nap in the sun.
Added a Pinterest site - here you can see sweet things for the baby and nursery, fashion and styles that i like and since i love gardening and home decor am pinning things that inspire me and i think are beautiful or smart!

Hello!
When I'm not mountain biking or working on my racecar, I enjoy watching Formula One/ NASCAR / Grand Am - any type of auto racing! I enjoy go-karting with my buddies at the local indoor karting track. I really enjoy listening to music, I'll always have music on at work and at home. I am a bit of a do-it-yourselfer and enjoy fixing things myself. Melissa still marvels at how I took apart and fixed the microwave (I'm not sure how I did it!)
Melissa and I like to go hiking, we try to get into Washington DC to see the exhibits at the museums or to try out a restaurant. One of my favorite museums is the Smithsonian American Art Museum. We also enjoy learning about the rich history of the area's many Civil War sites.
And then there's always time for softball, I play on a team in a league in the Spring and Fall. It's a great group of guys who are there more for the fun of it than to be league champions, although it's always fun to hit a homerun.
Hope that gives you a little more insight into me.

Tim and i are hoping to adopt a child via Private or Independent Adoption which means you, the expectant parent, select *us* to become the adoptive mother and father of your little one versus going through an agency (where you give the agency your little one and then the agency places the little one with the adoptive mother and father). In Private adoption YOU directly select us and choose us.
Tim and I are telling everyone we know about our desire to adopt an infant – because 50% of adoptions happen through word of mouth! That’s why we’re calling the expectant mother who picks us our guardian angel ♥ – we know you’re connected to us through friends or relatives or acquaintances.
In Private adoption, we’d ensure that our expectant mother would have an attorney (whose fees we would pay for). We will have an attorney too, who will work with your attorney to ensure that we follow all the the state laws and everyone’s rights are protected. For more information about Private Adoption, the FAQ page of the Families for Private Adoption group has great information. Here's a link for the Families for Private Adoption Facebook page.

♥ Dear Expectant Parent ♥
Thank you for visiting our site and for reading a little bit about Tim and me.
To consider placing your baby into another’s arms so that they can build a family is an
amazingly brave, loving and awesome thing. This may sound goofy, but you should be
very proud of yourself. As you read this, of course, I am hoping that you might be our
guardian angel. By giving us the greatest gift possible, you also give yourself the opportunity
to spread your wings and achieve all that you wish to in your life.
They say that life is a journey, and Tim and i firmly believe that we are at this junction (is it
a pit-stop off the NJ Turnpike?) for a reason. After meeting in New Jersey at our local
college hang-out, we dated while we finished up our degrees at Rutgers and i went on to
Duke for my masters degree. We kept dating, long distance was hard but we took time
and effort to make our relationship work. A job opportunity took me to Washington DC and
i was able to encourage Tim to move to this incredibly exciting and vibrant city full of
museums and historically important places. It wasn’t long after Tim moved down to
Northern Virginia, that he popped the question, we both knew that we had a great friendship,
a deep love and a fantastic foundation for a strong and loving marriage. We were married in
2002 and settled into a sweet happiness with each other in Virginia in a house with plenty of
room for the children we knew we’d have one day.
It’s funny how the years just fly by, we were always so happy with each other but we
struggled for years to get pregnant. We sought medical help and after years of being
jabbed by needles;having enough blood drawn to satisfy all the vampires in TrueBlood
and Twilight combined; and sadly 3 miscarriages after IVF, we decided that we simply
weren’t listening to God or destiny or fate.
So we decided to listen, and building our family through adoption was the clear answer!
Having a family was always very important to Tim and me, in fact, we took it for granted
thatwe would automatically have children. We talked about the traveling around the world
with the little one to visit with my relatives (Uruguay in South America; Sweden; and England)
and showing them where i grew up along the coast of England and sharing in the traditions
of those countries. We thought about all the fun they’d have with their cousins, how we’d
relish Christmas with Tim’s family and my family and the sound of our little one tearing into
the Christmas presents – wrapping paper flying in the air and the squeals of delight filling
our ears! We giggled at the thought of cute clothes we’d dress the little ones in – anything
with little cat ears or bear ears is high on the list!
We dreamed about how the little ones could share in Tim’s love of mountain biking and car
racing (he’s a high performance driving instructor!), we joked we’d have the next star of
NASCAR or Formula One in our children! We laughed thinking about how our two pampered
cats would one day have some competition in the “most adorable” category at our house.
We imagined the fun we’d have gardening together in the back garden, growing beautiful
flowers and looking at all the insects and hummingbirds that come to see our handiwork!
We talked about how the nature reserve and marina we can walk to from our home would
provide countless hours of serene walks and exploration of nature, pointing overhead to the
eagles, great blue herons and ospreys that frequent our neighbourhood.
We thought of how we’d be shaping a young lady or young man, instilling in them
self-confidence, and compassion for others as we would encourage them in their own
pursuits; helping to bring out their own, unique personality. We would cheer them on
in their favorite sports or hobbies giving them unconditional support and love. Given
how important education is to both Tim and me, we knew we’d beam with pride when
they stepped across the stage, first at their high school graduation then at their college
graduation. Perhaps they’d go on and get their masters and doctorate degree too!
The sky was the limit for our hopes for our children.
We have big dreams for our little ones and we know infertility is no obstacle, because
we have love to conquer that! Those dreams for an amazing future for a little one will
happen, for your little one if you choose us to become the adoptive mother and father.
We are so excited to be on this path to build our family and we can’t wait to connect with
that very special woman who will give us the greatest, joyful gift of a precious child.
♥
Our promise to you - if you choose us - is to spend our lives being the very best parents
we can be – loving – encouraging – giving all the opportunities that we possibly can, so
that this baby has an amazingly bright and happy future. Our baby will know how much
their birthmother loved them and that she made this ultimate gift of love to bring that
baby into our family forever.
♥
Again, thank you for taking the time to read our profile and for looking through our photos.

Hello!
Well, the first thing people notice about me is my "sneak attack" British accent. I grew up
in on the south coast of England and moved to the United States with my mom and dad
and brother when i was a teenager. So i've been in the US for quite some time, but i still
pronounce a few things in a very British manner (hence the "sneak attack" accent that pops
out with certain words or phrases!).
Growing up, i had a very fun childhood full of travels around Europe exploring castles
and historic homes and gardens with my older brother, inspiring a love of travel and history
that’s become a lifelong passion. We would also come visit my grandparents, here in
America, over the summers. My parents taught me the importance of not only using words,
but also actions to show just how much you love and cherish your family and friends. They
were always hugging and cuddling my brother and me – which some people say doesn’t
sound like the typical reserved stereotype of English people – but my Dad was always
joking, outgoing and fun and my Mom – as a Hispanic mother – was all about creating a
loving, secure and warm home!
I’ve always been outgoing and very chatty – and so when we moved to America i didn’t have
trouble making friends because *everyone* wanted to talk to me to hear my accent. In
fact, I met my best friend, Hope, soon after I moved here after she asked me to say
“Peachy”! Hope was my maid of honour at Tim and my wedding & is in the photos below.
I also love, love, love animals…. I can’t resist petting a dog or even a little piglet! I was so
happy that Tim also adores animals and so as soon as we bought our home we adopted
two kittens, Scooby and Heidi (read more about them on our Home & Pets page)! They
make us laugh every day with their antics!!
Some might describe me as a little kooky (in a good way). I like to have fun, whether
that is climbing into the cockpit of the flight simulator at a museum, jumping in an trying
the hurricane simulator at a science museum, or just being goofy. Life’s too short to not
look at the sunny side of life. I try to stay positive and upbeat, even when life gives you
lemons. I think this attitude has helped me deal with the infertility and miscarriages. I
stay hopeful that there’s a reason Tim and I went through these struggles. That the
experience will make us even better and thoughtful parents and offer a loving, secure
home to a little one who might not have had all the opportunities that Tim and I can
provide.
I love to bake and we celebrate the holidays with friends and their little ones with an
annual holiday cookie makin’, bakin’ and decoratin’ party that we host at our house.
The smell of freshly baked cookies fills the air, sprinkles, cookie decorations, powdered
sugar and cookie icing is absolutely everywhere but it is so much fun! I can’t wait to
introduce our little one to this annual tradition! I enjoy doing crafts (not quite as well
as Martha Stewart) and painting (acrylics on canvas) and love to grow zinnias and
beautiful flowers in the garden (although we can’t really display them inside because
one of our cats, Scooby, likes to eat the flowers. Then he likes to throw up the flowers!
Naughty cat, but good thing he’s so cute!) I love celebrating the holidays and I love the
Autumn and the changing colour of the leaves, mostly because it means Christmas is
right around the corner with all the cheer and good will that brings out in everyone.
Well I hope that this helps give a little snapshot into who I am! Do please get in touch!

Hello,
I grew up in a small town in Northwest NJ. Our neighborhood was filled with kids, so there
was always something do outside with friends. We’d play games (kickball, tag, wiffleball,
football, running bases, manhunt…you name it, we played it!) or hike in the woods near
my home. I’d be hiking with friends, our family’s dogs, or both! I still enjoy a good hike
in the woods today, it’s peaceful and I just enjoy being outside in Nature. During the
winters I’d join the neighborhood kids, sledding down one of the many large hills near
my home. It was a happy time.
When I was about 12 I began a serious passion for BMX. I grew up riding just about
everyday, competing in contests, traveling to prime riding spots, and making a lot of
friends along the way. Many of whom I am still close with today. In the winters I took
up snowboarding to keep that adrenaline going when I couldn’t ride my bike.
When I was very young my parents divorced, with my mother remarrying when I was
5. I got along great with my stepfather who is a patient and kind person. I grew up in
a full house with my mother, stepfather, brother, sister, and stepsister and we always
had at least two dogs and two cats. My whole family loved the pets and I still do today.
Almost every weekend, I would visit my father with my brother and sister and sometimes
friends. We’d go for bike rides, together we’d mow the baseball field diamond in a big
field at the back of dad’s property and then we’d all play baseball; we’d explore and hike
in the woods looking for caves and wildlife. Dad would drive me and friends to BMX contests
and cheer us on. He was always very supportive of my hobbies and interests.
As I’ve gotten older my passion for bicycling continues, but I’ve mellowed a bit and just
mountain bike now. Melissa jokes that I’ve graduated from 2 to 4 wheels: I’ve become
very interested in cars and even worked my way to become a high-performance driving
instructor. That’s me in my track car at Watkins Glen International Speedway.
I also enjoy listening to music, watching movies, gardening, hiking, reading, electronics,
playing on a softball team, and computers.
As for how I see myself? I think that I am a fairly mellow, easy-to-get-along-with, fair,
friendly person. I treat others with respect, as I would want the same in return. I have a
fairly sarcastic sense of humor, enjoy making people laugh, and having a good laugh
myself! I am deeply in love with Melissa and I feel we really compliment each others
personalities. I get along wonderfully with my in-laws, which is definitely an added bonus.
I know I am not perfect but I try to lead a good life. Starting the adoption process has
definitely helped me be more outgoing. Meeting people in similar situations, and introducing
myself to complete strangers with “Hi, we’re adopting…”
I am very much looking forward to being a parent and feel Melissa and I have a lot to offer.
I am realistic, and know we are ready to tackle all the ups and downs of being a parent
(definitely more ups!).
- Tim
